Early Stages

As many did, I started making music in kindergarten by playing the recorder. That would have been in 2002. In 2005, I started playing the piano. I took classical piano lessons at the local music school. Soon, I started playing together with other people and had concerts. I also sung in the children’s and later in the youth choir of my music school. We played operas which our teacher rewrote, that we could sing and play it. There, I learned to know the stage differently.

Development

When I got into high school, I took the major music. I still took classical piano lessons and played in various classical ensembles. With two friends, we started a classical piano trio, which we ended up playing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto together with the orchestra of our school. I also sung in the choir of the high school, continued playing many concerts and developed a lot of piano skills.

At the same time, I played in my first band. We had a lot of changes in our line-up and I ended up playing bass. I wanted to get better and started taking lessons and also played in a youth brass band, where I gained a lot of interesting experiences, like marching with an electric bass and a battery-powered amplifier on my back.

In my years at high school, my interest at playing modern music and improvisation grew and I decided to study Jazz piano.

Current status

In my studies, I took lessons with Michael Arbenz, Jean-Paul Brodbeck and currently with Hans Feigenwinter. I learned a lot about playing in bands and improvising. I connected with many new people and three of my current band projects emerged from those connections.

Currently, I am finishing up my Masters in Instrumental Pedagogy on Jazz piano with the Minor Media Composer. More about those activities, you can find in my composing-tab.
